PRESS RELEASE

For some two or three years the organisers and officers of the Codsall Wood Show Committee have been trying to generate new interest within the community towards the annual Flower, Vegetable and Crafts  Show which has been a feature of village life (in its current format) since 1949. In particular we have been trying to find suitable candidates to take the responsibility for organising and delivering future Shows. Unfortunately, whilst the Show is very well attended by members of the local and surrounding communities and we have sufficient volunteers to help us, we lack an enthusiastic leader and project manager with the time, the drive and energy to co-ordinate the whole effort.

Following the 60th Anniversary Show which was attended by an estimated 1,500 people, £4,450, which was raised by the Show and a raffle, will be distributed to local charities. Over the past 10 years, the Show has donated £35,000 from its surplus income, largely to local charities which are active in support of those in need within the local communities in and around South Staffordshire .

It was with great sadness that the eighteen villagers who attended the Show’s AGM had to acknowledge that no plans for a 2010 Show would be forthcoming.

The Show Committee would especially like to thank the many and various local businesses which have supported the Codsall Wood Show over the past 60 years and the very many volunteers, past and present who have given their time and energy to this traditional community event.
