Old Wulfrunians v Bustleholme Athletic

Wulfs went out quite confident of giving a good show after a decent performance the week before.

It was a long ball session for the first 15 minutes with both teams midfields needing neck massages and sun glasses from looking up in the sky.

Jamie Taylor opened the scoring with an overhead kick-cum overhead cross on 20 minutes after some fine twisting and turning by the corner flag.

Wulfs created a couple of half chances but it was Bustlehome who scored next. The ball was crossed low for the forward to slot away from five yards.

Wulfs once again suffered the curse of the keeper when Roscoe Hale survived an assassination attempt but had to go off injured.  Once more Adam Perkins was required to take the gloves.

Not long passed before another change was required after Aron Johal injured his foot and was replaced by new signing Ste Hardiker.

The visitors scored again before half time to have the lead at the break after Perkins left his line to try and claim a cross but missed it and saw the ball headed into the net by the Bustlehome centre back.

Wulfs levelled up against the run of play after a big punt over the top let
Sam Cole in to lob the on coming keeper but were unable to hold out as Bustlehome scored with a back post header and then wrapped it up with ten minutes left.

Wulfs did have three half chances when Phil Gardner shot wide after a Jamie Taylor knock down, Sam Cole hit the bar with a good header and Taylor forced the keeper into a superb save from a well worked low corner. All this was too little, too late.

Bustlehome were good for the 3 points but a better midfield performance could easily have made this a home win.

OWFC Man o' the Match: Jamie Taylor.

Final score: Old Wulfrunians 2  Bustleholme Athletic 4.
